Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association in South Lake Tahoe, California.


The Tahoe Keys is a 740-acre private marina community laced with eleven miles of inland waterways located at the southern tip of Lake Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe, California. Most of the 1529 members who own homes, townhouses or vacant lots have a private boat dock and are located on numerous lagoons, canals or the Tahoe Keys Marina with its boat launching ramps. Waterfront living provides direct access to Lake Tahoe and its many water sports.

Annual Homeowners Picnic

Dear Homeowners,

The 2017 Annual Homeowners Picnic will take place on Sunday September 3th, 2017 from noon to 4pm. We anticipate 1,000 members to attend. The picnic will be held at the TKPOA Pavilion in the outdoor area next to the outdoor pool, large park area, and Pavilion Beach. There will be food, beer, wine, soft drinks, and music for the entire family to enjoy. See flyer below for more information

Notice of Annual Meeting

In accordance with the Bylaws and the adopted Election and Voting Rules of the Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association, the 54th, Annual Membership Meeting will be held on Sunday September 3rd, 2017 at 9:00AM in the TKPOA Pavilion located at 356 Ala Wai Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150.

The purpose of the meeting is to hear reports on the state of the Association and to introduce the newly-elected Association Directors for the 2017-2019 terms, officers will be selected and board meeting dates scheduled.

The meeting will be convened promptly at the time noticed above. We hope all members will attend the meeting.

Tahoe Keys Marina - Launch Fees

TKM has been charging tkpoa members to launch their boats, which is contrary to the 1991 Settlement Agreement provision that launching and retrieving boats shall be at no cost. Today tkpoa filed a legal action asking that TKM be required to show cause why they should not be held in contempt of the 1991 Court Order and their officers either fined or imprisoned for their actions.

Notice of Change in Regular Board Meeting Date

Date Notice of Change posted: June 26th, 2017

For July 2017, the TKPOA Board of Directors meeting schedule has been changed as follows: 

  • The Board Executive Session will be held on Thursday July 20th, 2017 as previously scheduled.
  • The Regular Board meeting will now be held on Saturday July 22nd, 2017 at 9AM instead of Friday July 21st, 2017.
 All other scheduled Board meeting dates will remain the same at this time.

Environmental Initiatives

TKPOA is actively participating in several local, basin-wide, environmental committees and task groups. We are working with TRPA (Tahoe Region Planning Agency) and TRCD (Tahoe Resource Conservation District) on the study and testing of control methods for aquatic invasive spieces. We are participating with The League to Save Lake Tahoe's "Eyes of the Lake" program and on marking storm drains. TKPOA is redoubling its efforts to reach out to our many neighboring communities and you can read more about some of our projects and initiatives below.

Vacation Home Rentals

The Tahoe Keys Property Owners' Association is a Non-Profit Corporation established to own, repair, maintain and manage common areas for the homeowners of the TKPOA. The Association's business offices provide the Tahoe Keys homeowners with a full-time support staff including public service, landscaping, exterior maintenance, administrative and accounting.

NOTE: The Owners' Association DOES NOT RENT nor manage any long-term or short-term rentals within the Tahoe Keys. The Association also does not provide any services usually associated with vacation rentals such as housekeeping or private property maintenance.

Vacation Home Rentals - Rules and Ordinances

City of South Lake Tahoe (Article XIII Chapter 28A-69)

The City of South Lake Tahoe ordinance states that no owner of a vacation home rental shall rent that unit for 30 consecutive calendar days or less without a valid vacation home rental permit.

Permit conditions include provisions for:

1) Limiting overnight occupancy of the vacation home rental to the specific number of occupants designated in the permit; with the number of overnight occupants not to exceed 2 person per bedroom, plus 4 additional person per residence.

2) Limiting the number of vehicles to the number designated in the permit; with the number of vehicles not to exceed the number of designated on-site parking spaces.

3) Informing renters of rules regarding vacation home rentals, using  best efforts to assure that the occupants and/or guests of the vacation home rental do not create unreasonable noise or disturbances.

All realtors and property owners should be advised that it is against the Governing Laws of the Association to sell, or offer for sale, partial shares or other than whole conveyance of any property in Tahoe Keys.

Short-Term Vacation Renter Policy

Follow the rules and have a pleasant stay.


As a community we rely on each other to report suspicious and nuicanse activity in our neighborhood. The following kind of incidents should be reported to the security department: Property disturbance or violation, suspicious activity or vandalism, wild animals.

Security Cameras

The security camera system was recently expanded to provide additional coverage in the common areas: the Pavilion and nearby facilities (childrens play area, beach volleyball court, and tennis court), and the Corporation Yard. This will help identify people responsible for ongoing issues related to the tennis courts, Pavilion Beach, volleyball court, and Pavilion dumpsters.
