Waterways Committee
The purpose of the Waterways Committee is to assist the Board in monitoring and maintaining water quality within the Tahoe Keys Lagoons. The Committee is currently focused on a three-year effort to obtain permits needed to implement effective long-term strategies to control Nuisance Aquatic Weeds. In addition, the Committee assists in the administration of the water quality permit for the Tahoe Keys Lagoons and it provides input on the Water Quality Department.

I was just browsing some Keys Breeze and ran across a proposal for waterways fees involving a one third, one third, one third formula that seems rather odd. First and foremost, the lagoons are a community resource that allows access to the lake. Everyone located on such a lagoon gets this benefit which is the main reason for the lagoons in the first place. I think if you do some real examples you will find a disparity in fees which is really quite unfair. We bought our house in 86 and have seen absolutely no degradation to our shoreline in those years nor has there ever been a shoreline repair project. I don’t think the length of a shoreline qualifies for any sort of factoring whatsoever. Also is two small boats worse than one big boat? I agree nobody should turn their property into a mini-marina but I think you will open up a can of worms giving so much weight to zero versus two boats. Other than the night of the 4th of July fireworks, I have never seen anything I would call a boat traffic jam.
